Last week I had the chance to see a press screening of an early cut for a new documentary, "New York MMA". The film examines the struggle of MMA in New York on both a statewide point of view, as well as the human perspective from an amateur fighter from the five boroughs looking to turn pro. I spoke with the director, Kahleem Poole-Tejada, after the screening to learn more about himself, the movie, and more about MMA in NY. New York Mixed Martial Arts, is currently scheduled to open the festival on Monday, May 16th at 6:30pm right after the festival's ribbon cutting.
