New MMA League Vows To Do What UFC Won't

The World Fight League, WFL, should be launching in 2023.
Ariel Helwani noted that it's going to have a structure similar to sports leagues like the NFL, NHL, and NBA. It would have an
association with a 50-50 revenue share, collective bargaining, guaranteed contracts, health insurance, and pensions.
What makes it a bit unusual is the league will have independent franchise owners who have a team of
athletes signed from free agency or by a league entry draft. Teams compete in home and away competitions going for a playoff spot.
As fans, hardly would probably care about such a team format, because MMA is not played out like a team sport. It's one on one. And there's supposed to be 24 fighters on each team, and nobody's really gonna be invested in random fighters being put together on some team and going for playoffs, when MMA is just two people fighting in a cage.
One of the reasons it's called the World Fight League is because of the international flavor to it.
