Back in 2013, a 29 year old Canadian UFC lightweight TJ Grant won 5 in a row and was scheduled to fight Ben Henderson for a title shot.
But in training he sustained a concussion while grappling, at the time he had no idea, but that accident would end his career.
He could not make the Henderson fight, Anthony Pettis would step in and win the belt. Then Grant was expected to fight Pettis for
the belt, but the concussion symptoms persisted, he was never able to get back to training consistently and just ended up moving on
working in Saskatchewan building potash mines and now runs his own gym in Nova Soctia.
Grant would never get the chance to try and win the belt and attempt to become the 3rd UFC champ from Canada after GSP and Carlos Newton.
One lesson or reminder from Grant's case is to be careful jumping back into training after a fight, because Grant's accident did happen after he
started training within 2 weeks after his fight with Gray Maynard, a fight where he did take some goo
