In August of 2006, top UFC welterweights Karo Parisyan and The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 1 winner Diego Sanchez faced off in the main event of UFC Fight Night on Spike TV. The bout was a contest between two young fighters, but seen from different positions. Parisyan was the darling of the establishment with an all-star corner of Tito Ortiz, Randy Couture and Manny Gamburyan. Sanchez was an upstart with still a lot to prove backed from an up-and-coming fight camp run by Greg Jackson from Albuquerque, New Mexico. It was also a style contrast between an elite judoka and more folkstyle/jiu-jitsu based game. What transpired was one of my favorite fights. This video tells you why.
